Celebrating Community: JPMC and the Tradition of the Montrose Christmas Parade

The holiday season in Montrose carries a character all its own. Lights shimmer across Honolulu Avenue, families return to familiar spots along the sidewalks, and the neighborhood gathers with a sense of tradition that has grown for generations. At the center of this seasonal spirit is the Montrose Christmas Parade, a beloved event that has become a defining celebration for our community.
This year’s parade will once again take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 6 p.m., bringing warmth, continuity, and a touch of magic to the heart of Montrose.

A Tradition Rooted in Community Spirit

The Montrose Christmas Parade traces its origins back to the early 1950s, when MGM musical star and Montrose resident Dennis Morgan imagined an event that would bring families together. What began as an afternoon parade infused with Hollywood charm quickly grew into a local favorite. With celebrity guests and the glow of the season surrounding Honolulu Avenue, it captured the imagination of a growing community. For Morgan, whose birthday fell just before Christmas, the parade became a personal gift to Montrose—one meant to uplift neighbors and celebrate a shared sense of belonging.

Although the parade paused for a time when Morgan moved away, the memory of those joyful gatherings endured. And Montrose, true to its nature, found a way to bring it back.

A New Era of Celebration

In 1976, Montrose merchant Frank Roberts revived the parade as a way to usher in the holiday shopping season and honor the businesses that animate the area. His vision evolved into the nighttime parade we know today—filled with light, music, equestrian performances, youth groups, community floats, and traditions that continue to grow year after year.

What once began as a small neighborhood gathering has become a signature city celebration. Today, the Montrose Christmas Parade is recognized as the official holiday parade of the City of Glendale and regularly features more than 150 participating groups. One of its most anticipated moments is the Glendale Police Department helicopter fly-by, with Santa himself waving from above—a tradition that captures the attention of children and adults alike.

Honolulu Avenue: Where Memory and Celebration Meet

On parade night, Honolulu Avenue transforms into a ribbon of color and light. Families set out early to settle into their favorite viewing spots, neighbors greet one another, and the aroma of warm drinks drifts from local cafés. The street becomes more than a parade route—it becomes a place where generations reconnect, traditions continue, and community spirit is renewed.

JPMC: Proud to Be Part of the Tradition

At JPMCHomes (Jenkins Property Management Company), being part of this event means more than simply joining a parade. It is an opportunity to stand alongside the community we serve, share in its traditions, and contribute to the celebration that brings Montrose together year after year.

This marks our second year participating in the Montrose Christmas Parade, and our team is grateful for the chance to once again roll down Honolulu Avenue with an entry designed to reflect the creativity, dedication, and joy of the season. It is our way of honoring the families, businesses, and partners who support us throughout the year.
